Photographic Intercourse

I recently received a great deal of film from the generous Steve McCurry and have been using it to shoot whatever I see while I'm out and about. This last roll was, unbeknownst to the both of us, already exposed and mostly rewound, with just enough film left hanging out of the canister to fool me into thinking it was unused.

I was a little upset to lose some highly-anticipated shots but, as is usually the case with surprise double exposures, they're interesting to look at.

Patty, finding a community in need, established a biweekly soup kitchen in a Stamford, CT barrio. While the rest of New York complains/gloats about how busy their 9 to 5 keeps them, Patty handles hers and then moonlights as a tireless social worker.

One of the only people I've ever met who can change the mood of a room by merely stepping inside it.

Patty (right) helps turn bulk donations she collects into dinner for the barrio.

Alex, the chef for the evening, prepares the menu.

Food produced en masse, but no attention to detail spared. Humanity.

What can't be donated and made is bought from local merchants.

Bob got out, but is strong enough to return and help.

Signs and flyers would be sufficient notification. Words go further.

Volunteer helps Edward toward a GED. Teach a man to fish, and his mechanical engineer dreams become a little more real.

Bob and the trash.

Volunteers eat when they can.
